What would you do?

I like to wait it out and see what my body is going to do. I'm kinda in the same boat as you right now and have been for the entire last week, but I have clinic on Weds. and chose to just wait and talk to them then. If I didn't already have a clinic planned I would go in this week for an appt., but luckily I have a clinic planned.

Good luck and hope you get feeling better. I personally think colds with CF are the scariest thing... Its hard to know what will come of every cold (whether it moves into the lungs and does damage or whether it stays viral and doesn't do much once you're completely over the cold).

Please keep us posted!

I have an upper respiratory thingie going on. I went to clinic last week. I didn't have a voice. I did not have a fever though and my doc said my lungs sounded very clear. He did not have me do PFT's. He did not even suggest doing anything about it except what I am already doing....1 oral and 1 inhaled. No mention of a PICC. I did some exploring then on my own....I thought well if this is not in my lungs and is upper respiratory....allergies and sinus problems must be the culprit. So I started doing the nasal irrigation and took some allergy meds and started clearing within a couple of hours. I am still coughing but each day is much better than the previous day. That is always a good thing. I am not of the mind to run to IV abx all the time. With me, my bugs tend to become resistant. That may not be the case for some of the younger folks or some in a higher FEV1. For me, I want to reserve them for when I really need them cuz with each round that I have used them my bugs have built their strength. I know there are some who would disagree with that and tend to treat every small change in FEV1. I just watch them very closely and look for a consitant trend downward....that has not happened yet. I had one week where they were down about 5%....clear sounding and no real problems. We opted to watch them and within 4 weeks they were up 8%. Turned out to be a smart move to avoid the PICC....I had an appt. scheduled for placement and everything. Some would say what good is it if you have bugs that are sensitive to abx and yet you don't treat every fall in FEV1. Well...if it is a significant trend...I will.....I think trend is the key. I am at the same FEV1 that I was at 3 years ago and somewhat higher. I consider that a good thing plus i still have an arsenol of abx to use when the winter gets tough.
