white teeth

sorry to bump such an old post, but i just came across it. i actually have been noticing that "acid erosion" that seems to be weakening my enamel (never realized i had a problem really until a commercial came on saying i did.. ha ha) and was always curious if that was caused in some way by meds, etc. from CF or if its just from too much coffee.

<br />with regard to the whitening... i actually have the white spots on my teeth too, but they seem to come and go. they are absolutely horrible when i whiten my teeth (weird, huh?!) its almost as though the bleach in the kit brightens and brings out the white spots. so, i know every time i bleach, even though i may be getting a whiter smile, i'm also going to get brighter white calcium deposits (or whatever they are). i also notice it more after teeth cleanings, but its not near as noticable as when i whiten my teeth. odd.

I too have wanted to try the trays from the dentist. My mother has them and they work wonderfully for her and she paid $300 for them. I tried something similiar to crest white strips, a sample I got from my dentist, but it burned my gums and found it difficult to keep it in my mouth because I kept coughing up mucus.

I also have the white spots on a couple of my teeth which I had since I was a child. I was told they are calcium depoisits from floride when I was a child.

A question for Kelli, when using the trays your dentist made for you, did it make the white spots on your teeth whiter? I am becoming very self conscious of my teeth. They have become yellow and I'm wondering if the inhaled medications are doing it. But the white spots still remain very white and I'm afraid whitining my teeth will make the spots even whiter, making it more noticeable. Also, did you have a problem with the trays in your mouth and coughing?

My teeth are already sensitive to ice cream, ice, etc. and I'm afraid they will be unbearable if I whiten them.
