why do transplant patients become septic?

It has to do with infection, right? Did it have to do with John's
cepacia?<br>

As it says organ transplant patients are on drugs to suppress their immune system so that they are more susceptible to sepsis. Put that together with CF patients already bein colonized with resistent-bacteria and there can be problems

It can be to do with having Cepacia, that is why some centers do not transplant people who culture Cepacia. In the UK only one center transplants people with Cepacia, because if it attacks post transplant it is difficult to treat. But there are other reasons as to why people become septic post transplant, mostly to do with infections I think. The link LisaV provided is good in terms of information...
