thank you Melissa, I will let ya`ll know. My mother is making a doc. appt. as we speak.

Things have been pretty okay though here lately, I mean besides the normal not eating and not gaining weight. I had a doctors appt. on the 27th but couldnt make it because I didnt have transportation to et there, it was testing for Chrons disease. Other than that I have been okay...so this blood thing was a shocker

Hi AdamsSurvivor,

I cough up blood all the time. It started slow, here and there, then BOOM, I'll bleed everyday for a month. My bleeds are never a lot (volume wise) maybe only a few teaspoons. Then I won't bleed for 3 months and it will start all over again.

I just wanted to let you know....at first my dr's ALWAYS treated me with IV's when I'd bleed. So after about a year (not even kidding) they came to the conclusion (after I kept telling them) that with ME blood does not equal infection.

So watch your body, recognize what your 'normal' is and go from there. For me it was an uphill battle for the dr's to finally see it my way. There is no rhyme or reason for me to bleed, I've tried keeping a journal of things I'd done, or eaten. But there is no real 'reason' for my bleeding, it just happens.

Good luck to you!

thank you Kelli...I pray that Im not bleeding because of infection...I am a fairly mild CFer...I havent been admitted into the hospital since Jan. of 2006 and it was for double pnomonia and fluid on my lungs, but since then yes Ive had the normal colds and not eating and everything else (Im also stubborn about hospitals) but I havent had a big thing like this in a while.

I guess i will put in my two cents worth here . You didnt mention how much blood you coughed up, but you may want to keep an eye on the amount. Like Lauren said if you have more than a few tablespoons its absolutely time to get to the ER. Keep an eye on what you are coughing up today to see if there is any more blood coming up. If it happens several times in one day you would also want to get to an ER.
Don't do what i did.... I had a bleed each day for about a week, each time was slightly more than the last, I ignored it figuring i had hemoptysis probs for years and here we go again. Then one night when i was laying down to go to sleep i had a bleed that was a pretty good amount, and i still ignored that. Then the next night i was sound asleep and was awakened by avery big bleed at 3:am and this one was impossible to ignore, I wound up having to call 911 and being rushed to the ER. I had my first embolization 2 days later. Dr. said i had a big gaping hole in my blood vessel. I felt blessed to be alive . Sometimes our blood vessels can be dilated , and twisted and this is usually what causes bleeds .... along with infection.
Im not saying this to scare you i am saying this to let you know not to ignore it . If you notice the bleeds are getting more often and/or bigger please dont take it lightly. Im glad your mom is making an appt for you. In the meantime you may want to avoid aspirin, green tea, and ibuprofen since these can thin the blood. Are you on Vit.K ? If not maybe your doctor can give you a prescription for it......PLease let us know how you are doing.
