I had my first one about 7 years ago (when I was 11)..it really was scary! That was my first ambulance ride. I had really coughed up a lot though, about 9-10oz in the short amount of time til the paramedics got there. I did have an infection though but my pulmonologist said it was more than likely just a popped vessel because it only happened twice and not very much the first time. I couldn't exhale without it happening for about 20 minutes that second time. It's more than likely nothing serious though and happens to all CFers I guess eventually.
