This is kind of gross but I've noticed a discharge on my underware the last few days. I am sometimes prone to thrush especially when on iv's. However I havn't been on iv's for 6weeks. Is it thrush or a sign of chest infection coming?? Answers needed. Thanx. . .

I have never had thrush but usually I get a yeast infection while on IV meds. What a pain in the butt! But here is a link about thrush I though might be helpful!

The only GOOD thing about thrush/ yeast infections is that you can pop a Diflucan to take care of it instead of having to use a cream. Mention it to your CF doc or gyno and ask for some diflucan next time you are put on antibiotics, they're good to have around, just in case.

I have never heard of yeast infection being a sign of a chest infection, just a sucky side effect of anitbiotics. Definately go for the Diflucan, if you have a particuarly bad yeast infection you may need to take it a few days in a row. Also, try taking lactobacillus while on antibiotics, sometimes that can help ward off yeast infections or at least make it less severe if you do get one.

Also with the lactobacillus... try AZO yeast and acidophilus. I don't know about the lactobacillus, but AZO and acidophilus are both over the counter. Really easy to get, and I take one of each a day and have had much fewer yeast infections because of them.

Sounds like you have Candida Albicans. I think it is chronic to CFers because, and only because of all the antibiotics. When the Candida gets out of hand, all sorts of things can happen. Ultimately it too can tax you immune system. The only thing I recommend is supplements. I would discourage anyone from taking prescription anti-fungals like flucanozol or difulcan. They just put you at risk for kidney and liver failure and compound the problem, which is your body is a natural biosphere of organisms, and when you kill too many of one organism in this environment, other not so good organisms can thrive. If the wrong ones thrive, or any thrives too long in this state of imbalance these sort of problems manifest. There is this website called modernherbalist.com which has a ton of supplements (natural anti-fungals) targeting Candida, and Candida related problems (athletes' foot, jock itch, ringworm, hives, yeast infection, thrush, and a few more). I had Candida really bad twice, and I had ringworm bad and chronic hives, each for over 5 months. If you aren't into taking too many supplements, or can't afford all the options, acidophilus is a good and simple choice. I use the hardiest strain around called Lactobacillus Sporogenes. Good luck.

hi
I am in the same boat as the original poster. EVERDAY for the past 5 months i have had to wear some kind of pad down below because of the constant discharge. It doesnt smell and isn't really coloured. I have tried trush tablets etc and have even been to the doctors and apparently it is NOT thrush. I am beginning to get ennoyed with it but can not seem to find anything that will get rid of it. Any suggestions would be appreciated, bearing in mind i have been told it is not thrush.

many thanks

Yeah Im the original poster and mine is not thrush. I thought it could be the slimy fluid you release about2 weeks before your period but so far no period!

snap i thought the same but havent had a period for 7months or something like that so it is definatly not pre- period discharge. I cant stand the thought of having to deal with this all me life just adds to the problem!
