wonder if this is normal

I'm 22 with CF. The other night my boyfriend and I had sex for the first time. It was extremely painful, to the point that my body started shaking and I thought I would pass out from the pain. Female members of my family say that it shouldn't have hurt that much. I am wondering if this is normal for CF women (kind of puts a damper on things) or if it is something else. I am making an appointment with my doctor just to make sure it isn't some other problem.

This does not sound like a cf problem at all. It's good that you are making a docrot appt right away. Good luck~ Diane 39 /cf /diabetes / b.cepacia

The first time for me was a bit painful initially, but nothing serious, after the first minute the pain was gone. Did the pain last the whole time? Was it possible the near passout was do to it being a bit stressful and emotional? The only pain I have heard of is what would be a tilted uterus, nothing serious just a different way the uterus sits. Hope what you find out at the doctor is good news and nothing serious. Take care.

it can be normal. we can be very dry down there. and if you have frequent thrush infections it makes things 10 times worse. sometimes thrush in cf'ers never seems to go away, it kinda lays dormant and if you try to have sex it will hurt like hell! your doc will find out what the problem is.

Hey Hon, I'm assuming this was your first time at all. If that's the case pain is totally normal. Cf ladies can be dryer than others, and it's easy for us to get yeast infections because of so many antibiotics. My advice is to buy some lubercant, I like K-Y Silke (doesn't get sticky). I use it when my lover and I are intimate, as well as every now and then if I feel dry. The thing to do is explain to your partner what some of the issues are and take it slow. Try to pee asap after sex to keep bacteria out of your urethra that can cause a urninary tract infection. Try different positions to see what works best (get creative!)Debbie23 w/ CF

Hi, I used to have a lot of pain during sex due to dryness. Then, I started using lubricant, and it isn't so much of a problem. It still hurts sometimes, usually only when we use a condom in the very beginning. Hope that helps!

Hey...Im going to be 22 in 2 weeks, and I have CF too...You wrote about pain during sex.....It usually doesnt have anything to do with having CF but it has happened to me before with CF. Im not sure how bad your CF is, or what kindof problems you have, wether they are respiratory related or just digestive/Gi? Mine however, are more digestive and GI related and non-respiratory....and when I was sick, and backed up of stool, when I had sex it was very painful becuz of all the stuff backed up in me having so much pressure and moving around so much inside. Since I have been cleaned out I havent had any problems like that again. But you also have to imagine how backed up I was and how sick I was....Good luck and if it is CF related, let us know how everything went...Felicity ..... age 21.5......Cystic Fibrosis.....Email address: PJzWife4Lyfe@aol.com
