Worried - Sinus problems

My boyfriend (23 w/CF) had his 13th sinus surgery this past January (the 13th to be exact), and this week he started having problems with his sinuses again (blood....actually blood colored but looks and feels like glue ). I wanetd to know if any of you know if this is normal? After the surgery he was spitting out blood and stuff and I know THAT is normal, according to the doctor but that was done and over with until it started up again this week.

I know there are not two cases alike when it comes to CF, but I was hoping (well not really but I think you all know what I mean) that one of you might have had similar experiences and know more than me

I don't know if I should even be worried about this but just writing this made me feel better!

nasal polyp surgery, right? If the blood feels like glue, it might be because it's coagulated... at least I think that's what my coagulated blood feels like. I usually don't get that, though, except for right after the surgery. Anyway, nose bleeds are common, and they get more and more with each surgery you have. Not sure why he'd have coagulated blood, but maybe it's staying up there for a long time, or something, or maybe it's just mixed with snot so it feels like glue. Who knows, but anyway, there's probably not much to worry about. If it's happening a lot, like in he's losing massive amounts of blood, then you might want him to see the doctor, though.

I wouldn't worry about it. After my sinus surgery I had these huge pieces of crap coming out of my nose. My doctor called them horses, lol. They were mixed with blood and either very very hard or like glue. It just comes with the territory after having surgery up there.

make sure your boyfriend irrigates his sinuses. ive had 6 surgerys and i know when i start to bleed like that its because i am dry and i need to irrigate. in the meantime he can go and get some non medicated nasel spray.

Hi

I've had one sinus surgery in 1999 & had excellent results from it. I have heard about nasal irrigation, but can you please tell me about it?

Thanks.

Hi, thank you to all who answered! He is doing better this week, much better in fact, he will go see the doctor earlier than planned but I am not worried anymore.

Thank you again!
