Our son has been on probiotics since he was 7 weeks old - Jarrow Brand or Culterelle. Systemic yeast is misdiagnosed all the time and can be very tough to get rid of without diet changes and daily support with probiotics. Most doctors are completely unaware of it. Many reoccurring UTI and bladder issues are actually do to yeast overgrowth. There is a test called an organic acids urine test which can look at bacterial overgrowth/yeast. You have to ask for and educate the doctors a bit...or find a more holistic one who can work with you.
Caprylic Acid (oil form) and Grape Seed Extract are 2 natural ways to combat internal yeast overgrowth. Depending on age, you can combine this with a cleansing drink which helps get the dead yeast out of the body, avoiding headaches and such from die off.
Mild Tea Tree mouthwashes can help if it is oral and there are some creams to help with external. You also have to treat the whole family if you want to decrease your chances of reoccurance. Wash everything you sleep in/on in really hot water with a drop of tea tree oil in the washer. May want to buy all new underwear once the infection is cleared up (boys too).
www.wholeapproach.com has a lot of safe products to combat yeast. In addition to daily probiotic, you need to get all sugar and bread/simple carbs out of the diet; even fruit in the beginning until it is under control. Yeast feeds on sugars. Yeast is also very smart and can mutate easily making diflucan and nioxin (not sure on the spelling) totally inaffective over time, especially if diet changes do not occur during treatment.
There are several good books on yeast <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw/105-9147799-0750819?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=yeast+connection

Once it is cleared up, you have to be very careful to reintroduce fruits and carbs into the diet and stay on a probiotic. It is beneficial to try and learn about alkalinizing the body as well, yeast lives in an acidic environment quite happily.
It took me 2 years to get mine under control and I still do periodic (2x year) cleansing and a daily probiotic...and I'm never on antibiotics. I also still avoid sugar (just a rare treat) and use only agave nectar and honey on occasion. Underlying issues with thyroids and hormones can also cause many efforts to get rid of it to go nowhere until the imbalance is treated.
Best wishes...yeast is a pain in the %$#
