Yeast/Bacterial Infection

First of all I am NOT on any meds or antibiotics for anything...

OK so about 2 weeks ago I got what I thought was a yeast infection. Used Monistat...didnt work. Went to the doctor and she prescribed a one dose capsule that was supposed to clear it up. At 1st I was itchy, hurt to pee and had a discharge. I called a 24/7 nurse line and she said it could be a Bacterial Infection. My period came and only lasted 2 days? But the discharge is still here, it's less frequent but still here and it's a pale yellow color with NO odor, NO itching and DOES NOT hurt to pee. It comes and goes everyday. Sexual intercourse is fine, doesn't hurt to have sex but we are using condoms...just to be on the safe side.

Anyone else experience this and if so what is/was it? I am going back tot he doctor on Monday...I'm hoping I can get some imput as to what this maybe b4 I go.

I had this happen years ago as a teen. My OBGYN said something about (don't remember exactly) vaginitis?

All I know is walmart sells kits now to for check it...I saw it the other week while buying shampoo! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">
(like one of those pool kits to check the PH balance in the pool, but these little strips were to check out the balance "you know where")

Anyway, I had similar symptoms and like you had no antibiotic use around that time. I don't remember what the medicine was called, but it took care of the problem nicely.

Found a website that states:
Treatment depends on the type of vaginitis. For uncomplicated yeast infections, over-the-counter antifungal creams can be used. In some situations, women may be given a prescription pill called Diflucan to treat a yeast infection. For bacterial vaginosis, either oral or vaginal forms of the medications Flagyl or Clinidamycin can be used. For trichimonas, a single dose of Flagyl is used. Other types of vaginal infections are treated based on specific findings on exam or on culture results.

This site has some more details:

bacterial vaginosis, Chrissy? Seems you might want to have a health care provider check your discharge, there are a lot of causes and an exam and lab test will help to figure it out and lead to treatment if you need any.
