yet another eflow post

ok, my dr is saying taht no one will sell an eflow and will only lease them so they can have you by the nose for them to have exclusive selling rights of the meds. and they're also saying you can't put regular meds in one and they have to be specially formulated? would you say its worth all the hassle for the eflow? how long does it actually take to do albuterol, pulmozyme, hts, tobi etc? another thing my dr is suggesting is to get a trek, is it really any faster than a regular nebulizer? i'm sure i'll have more questions but i knew you guys would actually know instead of what some drug rep told my dr, which is i htink all he knows about the eflow

i was leased mine AND have to get my meds through that company.

i personally don't like e-flow. i think its a pain in the arse to clean... too many steps versus the pari LC plus that you can throw in dishwasher or boil.

the e-flow is quiet and about 5-6 minutes faster treatment time, but the cleaning time (imo) far exceeds any time saved.

i am planning on calling the company to send mine back and just go back to my pari LC plus nebs for all my meds.

oh, and my e-flow was only Rx'd to me with colistin, so everything else i still used my other nebs. and, colistin in the e-flow is similar to how i'd do it (mix it) with other nebs, except i actually use LESS of the med cause it gets more concentrated in e-flow.

JMO. others may have differing views, but i'm one of the nay-sayers on here about the e-flow.

Sorry can't help you with the eflow, but we do have the Pari Trek.

The trek is good to use with albuterol or hypertonic saline on the go...takes about the same time as the Pari Proneb. The downside is that it is not powerful enough to use with other medications (pulmozyme, tobi,...). It does not break down the meds in small enough pieces. Atleast that is my understanding.

I don't know what meds you want to use in the trek, but I would question your doctor if he says it is OK to use with pulmozyme/tobi. I know they have put out a new version of the trek in the last year or so, maybe that one is more powerful?
