My parents always used a kerosene heater in our house in the winter and it never seemed to bother my breathing any. Although I do remember the horrible smell it put off, especially when it burned out and ran out of kerosene. I would never use one in my home nowadays.

My spouse is an RT (and I'm a nurse) and will occasionally listen to my lungs too. I think it's just natural to want to listen if you're a nurse. It's nice to have people in the medical field in the family!
