Grandparents are hosting extended family bday celebration and will have cake and candles. Ds spits a lot when he blows out candles. Is that dangerous to others to eat? No one else has cf.
Could folks share what their kids clinics do re lung function?

Ds did lots of running today and didn't cough during but had some very productive with xopenex, HyperTalk and vest....is that typical? In fact the first whiff of of xopenex gave a big one?
Just curious what preassure settings they told you to use for inhalled meds if you have a 30 psi compressor that adjusts? We just got and I love it but no one seemed to know and finally they said 23 after looking something up. Just wanted to hear what others said.
Thanks!
For those of you who do or dose enzymes by fat intake and not your weight, what is the dosing? Gi is working with cf clinic to up dosing which they currently do on weight, but I'm curious how far off he might be based n his fat intake. Don't worry I won't change without doctor direction just...
DS had his quarterly CF appointment yesterday and after the doctor said his lungs sounded perfectly clear I said "well he does a great job taking care of himself. What do you do to keep your lungs healthy?" DS who is almost 4 said "I do my medicines all day long." It sure does feel like that...
Sunday was the first day we saw our son's mucus. . . I think he sucked it out of his mouth with an oral syringe he was using to take his Miralax (he likes to "drink" it with a syringe and when he pulled it out, there was a strand of mucus. It was fairly long (4 inches), very thin, mostly clear...
I may have asked this before but I loss track of things as I figure out one and then another arises again. I understand floating stools mean there is high fat content/unaborbed fat and is typically a hallmark for the need for more enzymes. Here is what I'm trying to find out. As backdrop: We...
As many know, DS has horrible GI issues. I'm trying to get my arms around the last three weeks of things to process/discuss with doctors what's going on. Yesterday he had a nasty tummy ache after having a large glass of salt water and then another glass of water and he kept wanting more and...
How do you do "normal?" This isn’t really a vent, or a frustration, so much as truly a bafflement for me, because I’m fine with our "normal," but it seems like everyone else has time for the "normal-normal." But how????? This is our typical day:
730: Wake, potty, dress, come down for...
DS has horrible GI issues and is on maintenance of Miralax. He regularly takes 2 capfuls daily. He often gets tummy aches. I'm trying to determine if this could be cramping from Miralax. Usually the tummy ache is after he has drank 1/2 of the dosing in AM or after eating for about 5 minutes...
FYI staples has awesome deal on case of Purell 12oz. With aloe. So much cheaper than getting at grocery etc and be.tween home, work, car, etc, nice to have.
Lisa,
I'm hoping you can help me with your thoughts. DS just finished a bad 2 weeks of stomach stuff. He was getting a back-up, choked on a chip and then got a stomach bug (at least that's what I think happened). He started refusing his enzymes when he had no problem before and I believe...
DS 3.5 has had a baseline cough since birth. Not much at all, maybe 12 times a day, and brief coughing spells at night, say 5 seconds, nothing for 2 minutes, 5 seconds, etc. for about 10 minutes and that's it. Sometimes "tickle" coughs, and as he got older some were more productive...
In case you haven't seen, there's a new drug that is suppose to be very effective and possibly allow weaning from parenteral nutrition. It's called Gattex and is manufacturered by NPS Pharmaceuticals.
Just got back from quarterly CF appointment and doctor wants to start DS on inhalled steroids to address his cough, which comes and goes, and seems to be triggered by running. She wants to try for 3 months to see if it helps. Said the only sideeffect of real concern given low dose was thrush...
So, I'm just now getting around to putting together the "bus list," as in if I get hit by a bus here's everything you need to know re care for DS. Does anyone have a detailed on they could share? This is my "table of contents." Anything I'm missing?
Executive Summary.

Several had recommended the Mobilaire for a better compressor. Our hospital's medquip normally supplies the "Bunn" 50 psi. Does anyone have experience with Bunn and any comparisons of the 2?
Thanks!
