stop drinking booze and start drinking a lot more water, I used to have like three beers when I played poker with friends and I found that just after three beers I started to feel ill so I quit and never touched a drop for over 4 years. Water will keep him hydrated and will actually loosen up...
I think that's normal, when he is playing sports the lungs are having to work harder than normal and that can cause some mucus to loosen up. I know when I was first diagnosed the first thing I did was buy an exercise bike, and every time within the first 10 minutes I would have to take a break...
If you have had transplant there is no need to tell them because you don't have the daily cough. With my last job I informed them after they hired just because I know that after awhile of people hearing the chronic cough that doesn't go away people were going to start asking questions. It turned...
I am on the transplant list in Canada and my brother has had his transplant over 4 years and the only fruit we were told to stay away from is Grapefruit because there is something in the juice that can affect your rejection medication. We have a dog and he has never had a problem being around...
hello,
I am currently on the list but I have a twin brother who had a double lung transplant just over 4 years ago, and he is mainly treated now by the transplant centre. He does still have CF but only needs to see the cf team once a year now.

hello,
The only medication that I know off that can affect hearing is IV Tobramycin if someone is taking for 3 months or longer you can get ringing in the ears and then it's stop.
There may be others that can affect hearing I just don't which one's they are.

Hello Needyhrt,
I am 38 years old and was not diagnosed until I was 22 years old. I played hockey until I was 18 and was very active with sports at school I think that's why I never really had major lung issues until after I stopped playing hockey. I was working and going to school and did not...
Hello,
I have had over a dozen PICC lines and was never sedated but I am in my 30's. I can sure understand how this would be hard for a child to go through this procedure. I think maybe you should ask them to sedate her.
Dave 37 w/cf and currently on the transplant list.
Hello Pink Pig,
Are you on any medication for your reflux. I take losec everday and it controls my reflux quite well. I tried to do the motility test but kept coughing and when I coughed I could feel that stupid thing they shoved down there and it made me gag, and everytime I coughed it messed...
Hello Mattemo,
I am on the list in Canada and have to do physio 3x a week. Once at Toronto General where I will be having the surgery and 2x a week in St. Catharines which is where I live.
I do treadmill, stretching, some weights for arms and legs, and then finish with the bike.
Dave,
Hello,
when they change the dressing you have to make sure the nurse waits until your arm is completely dry after the alcohol swabs to put the new dressing on. This has happened to me before.

I have not been able work for 4 years and I am on the list. I can't wait to get this over with and move on with my life. Getting back to work, working out, and playing golf. I have a twin brother who had a transplant 4 years ago and about 4.5 months he was ready to start going back to work part...
Hello,
I have 24% lung function and like you never have needed O2. I am currently on the Transplant list here in Canada. I am on the list because I know how much I am struggling now and don't want to find out what 20% or 19% feels like regardless of O2 needs. I would not use O2 too judge if it...
what is concerning you about the lake? I am on the list right now but I have an identical twin brother who had transplant surgery 3 yrs ago and has been up to a family members cottage for some boating and fishing and didn't have any problems.
Dave,
I have tried both Tobi and coilistin and I couldn't take either it seems that all inhaled antibiotics really irritate my lungs and airways and actually makes things worse for me.
Dave.
hello sam,
I am currently on the transplant list myself so I can relate to the situation. Everbody is different, and I don't suffer any anxiety over this but as far tips to calm him down you just keep telling him that you are going to be there to help and that he is not alone that might help...
