Dave, you should stop waiting to see what may happen because it won't be pretty. Get listed asap. It won't mean you get a new set of lungs by the end of the week. When you're listed, sit back and take care of yourself. Some wait 2 years!
THEN, when the time comes and you get sicker, you'll...
Life after TX is all about blood sugars since the meds make you less sensitive to insulin.
The good news is that you'll put on weight

I agree! Weight gain shakes in addition to your normal eating habits is perfect (esp. for braces). Lifting weights will not only put on the muscle, but also stimulate appetite.

Not necessarily. I disagree with waiting for someone to tell you how to save yourself.
At an FEV1 below 30, you're a bad cold away from being in critical condition. Congrats on staying on top of it so far, but take it from me, it's time to get evaluated.

Barbell squats is the best. Not only does it promote bone density, it gets you breathing very heavy (provokes coughing), it builds muscle, it's the most functional movement--think post transplant trying to use the toilet

With those numbers, are you being evaluated for a lung TX?
As it was described to me, exercise doesn't affect FEV1. When mine got below 30, I tried to exercise as much as possible....my FEV1 didn't budge.
I wish you luck!
