FYI, in the hospital when they do my CPT they generally will ask if I can go into the "trendelenberg" position, which is where they tilt the bed so your head is lower than your feet while clapping. It is great if you can tolerate it because the gravity definitely makes it easier for the mucus...

You can also do just postural drainage without the clapping, although obviously it won't jar loose as much mucus. But, if you cannot tolerate any CPT, the postural drainage is still recommended over doing nothing. The gravity will help mucus drain from the small airways into the larger ones...

wow, that's a new one for me. I hadn't realized prednisone could lose its effectiveness. I know that there are a variety of diseases for which prednisone is used continually for years (certain cancers, lupus for example). Amy, maybe you could shed some light on the prednisone issue.
