Azithromycin may predispose cystic fibrosis patients to mycobacterial infection??

I take Azithromycin and had "scant growth" of M. Abscessus on a bronch, which was done to try to figure out why I wasn't responding to antibiotics. Once I was treated for the M.A., my pft's rebounded. I am seriously considering stopping the Azithromycin, since, in my opinion, a mycobacterial...

8 yr old son with missing vas deferens

Unfortunately, it does sound like your son has many symptoms of CF. The absence of the VD doesn't mean CF in and of itself, but based on that he's likely to have at least one CFTR (gene that isn't working in CF) mutation. As other have said, waiting until March is definitely too long. In...

    My rant

Amber, I am going to third was had already been said. I think that you and your husband need to consider therapy both together and individually. I have been going to therapists on and off since I was seventeen, and if you find the right person, it can be very helpful. I understand how...

    First IUI Unsuccessful :(

Hi all, As some of you know, I had my first IUI earlier this month. Unfortunately, I got my period today. I know it can often take multiple attempts, but I was hoping that I could be one of the lucky ones that it worked for on the first try. After over a year of TTC, this felt like the first...

Why doesn't it seem like doctors are super aggressive with sinuses?

I don't know how old your kids are, but in my experience, pediatric CF docs don't like to recommend sinus surgery for many of the reasons Liza mentioned. It can lead to a never ending cycle. When I was 20, I went to an adult CF doc at Johns Hopkins for a second opinion. He recommended taking a...

    To Pulmozyme or not?

Hi,

I'm an adult with CF, and I have been on Pulmozyme since it came out in the mid- 1990's. While it is hard to say how it has affected me, I think the concept behind Pulmozyme is excellent, and in the scheme of things, it doesn't take that long to nebulize (10 mins max)...

    Are you pregnant?

Thanks, Erin! Igh, six times! That must have been heartbreaking. Did you just do IUI w/Clomid for each try or use a different drug? You can feel free to PM me if you'd prefer not to discuss it hre.

    Are you pregnant?

Hi there, I have DDF508 and will be undergoing my first IUI (intrauterine insemination) cycle this month. My husband and I tried for about 9 months to no avail. I believe that my cervical mucus is making it very difficult for me to get pregnant, so IUI bypasses the cervical mucus. I hope I'll...
