I am not in huge need as my insurance covers it, but I could definitely make use of it if you don't get other takers. My Grandma lives in Upland and will be flying up for Easter so we could possibly get around the mail thing if that's an issue. Let me know.

Amy,

Isn't it kind of rare to become resistant to Tobi. I've been off it now for a while, not because i'm resistant, but prior to that I was on it for like 8 years, one month on, one month off.

You've only been on TOBI for 5 years and are now resistant? I've been on Tobra for about 10 years now, and am nowhere near resistant. I guess its different for everyone.

You should be okay mailing it. I've sent people enzymes and Xopenex before. I always packed it before going to the post office or whereever.

If its still available I am interested. I have no drug coverage and all these meds get expensive(hello credit card debt!). I manage okay so if someone comes along that really REALLY needs it, give it to them. Infact I don't mind waiting a few days to see if someone who needs it more comes along

I was told you can't really become resistant to the nebbed form... you may want to make sure with your docs. I've also been resistant to the IV tobramycin for several years, but they still had me on TOBI. At all the clinics I've been to, they've said that they cannot be positive that just because you're resistant to it in one form, you're not getting benefit from it in another.... They all had told me to stay on it even though I was resistant to the IV drugs, since breathing and a med in your bloodstream are quite different things.

Okey doke. Just tellin' ya what my docs have told me. I personally hate TOBI and cannot tolerate it at all after about 3 years of on/off cycles. I LOVE colistyn MUCH better! Anyway, its very nice of you to be offering it to those TOBI does work for.

Oh, I forgot to ask...

Can I ask how they know that you're resistant to the nebbed form? So, like would there be a test to tell if I'm resistant to Colistyn? And, with the new nebbed Aztreonam coming out, would anyone that tests resistant to aztreonam in the IV form also be resistant to the nebbed form? I'm just confused. According to my docs, it just wouldn't matter, cause they are testing a completely different form of the drug with different properties, and I personally would LOVE to know if nebbing certain things is no longer helping (i.e. colistyn, pulmozyme, aztreonam, etc...) so I wouldn't waste my time doing them. I think its a good thing if we're able to know if we're resistant to something.

Hi Amy,

Just so you know (I'm sure you already do but it wasn't mentioned) if you mail it, it needs to be packed with ice bags and shipped overnight so that it stays cold. All my meds are shipped to me since I'm so far away from the pharmacy. TOBI and Pulmozyme need to be shipped with ice. K? Just wanted to let you know since I'm sure you just pick it up.

Good day...

Hey, anon.... I know TOBI can be out of the fridge for up to 28 days. I think they pack it that way when they send it to be on the safe side, but my pharmacist, and the little info. leaflet that comes with it, says it can be out of the fridge for quite some time. Just FYI.

Pulmozyme can only be out for up to a total of 8 hours I think.

TOBI out of the fridge for up to 28 days? I don't know, that's not my understanding. My pharmacy always overnights both with ice packs. I've never heard of them being able to stay out of the ffridge that long.

The above Anon was me....

I've been on and off it for about 10 years. For the first 4 years I was on it periodically, then they put me on it straight for about 4 years, and now I've been on it periodically again for the past 2. Something like that anyway.
