Any CFers with high cholesterol?

hmmm this is very interesting... others with pancreatic sufficiency and high cholesterol..... I thought my son was the only one....

Here's our experience:
We were told by the nutritionist specifically....."Even though we always recommend high calorie diets including fats, (dairy products etc) we never see high cholesterol in people with CF"

I wondered if her statement would really apply to my kids since they are pancreatic sufficient. I kind of had a feeling that applied to mostly PI people.

So far, my son runs higher than normal cholesterol and has a terrible diet for a PS person... high fat, no fruits and veggies, but he doesn't need the extra calories.

My daughter's cholesterol number is normal, but she eat very healthy, lots of fruits and veggies, as much of the good fats as she can, limits sugars and steers clear of processed foods. So it would be hard to say if it is her diet or her CF that helps to keep her cholesterol low.

Any CFers with high cholesterol?

I got a cholesterol screen done at work and it was high overall by about 5pts but my good cholesterol is most of what was making it so high, I also had not fasted. I got it done this year while lactating (which affects it as does pregnancy) and it was within high side of normal again with the good cholesterol beign very high.

My CF clinci said most CF'ers cant absorb enough fat to get high cholesterol and to be thankful <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif" border="0"> -- mine has never been truly high though.

I will be getting one done the right way (fasting) after I am done lactating just to make sure so thanks for bringing this back to mind.
