i'm going on a trip to LA in a couple of weeks and i'm gonna need to take my meds, the big thing i'm worried about is the albueterol and saline and pulmosime because it has to be part of a carryon but because the stupid terrorists now like to use liquids, we can't have them, what do i need to prove that i really need my meds and i'm not a terrorist. keeping them cold isn't a big problem because i can use cold packs and a little icechest but i just have to get them on a plane

We went from Boston to Memphis to Florida, then back.

We had no problem bringing our stuff on the plane. We did bring a note from our doctor and copies of all the presciptions, but no one really looked at them. We explained at the check in that we had medical needs and they did check us with more consideration, but they were very accomodating.

We made sure all of our regular liquid products were in "regulation" 3oz, bottles and baggies. Our pulmozyme was on ice in a small cooler in our carry on. We also brought all presciption bottles, cans of G-tube feed, pumps and neb compressors. All checked out ok.

Its best to be upfront. You should be fine. This should help.

Deep breath.

I fly at least once a month, domestically and internationally. May I will be in Cancun, April I was in Paris, March I was in New Jersey, February I was in Florida, January I was in New Jersey, December I was in Texas... the list goes on and on...

All you need is to keep everything in it's original container. Which, they already are because HTS is in a vile (unless yours comes a different way), so is albuterol and so is pulmozyme. Keep your pills in their original Rx containers. And carry ALL OF YOUR MEDS on with you. Luggage can be lost and it's miserable to be on a trip without meds.

If you are questioned DON'T GET NERVOUS . Just be yourself. If they ask you what the stuff is, tell 'em. Eloquently explain what each med does. Confidently explain what CF is.

If anyone tells you that you have too many carry-ons, confidently reply that no, you don't, you are carrying medical equipment & medicine needed for your survival. Many $5/hour airport security personnel don't have a clue about rules and regulations. Believe it or not.

But you know what you're talking about therefore you can confidently and eloquently inform them that what you're doing is ok.

And be prepared - LA has the worst air quality of anywhere in the United States. Hopefully you'll fly in during the day so you can see the thick layer of brown in the sky

original poster,

i flew recently and it was fine. i had more than one baggie full of stuff, but i made sure that all my stuff was in baggies of the proper size. i also checked all unnecessary stuff in my luggage. at the airport i flew out of, there was a guy at a table stationed outside of the security point. you can go to him with questions about what's okay to take onboard. i explained my situation to him and he wrote out a slip of paper for me to put in the baggies. then he said, just put them in the bin separately and if anyone asks, show them the slip of paper.

i also had all my RX in their original bottle as well as a doctor's note explaining that the medicines i needed were absolutely necessary. i didn't end up needing to do anything else though.
