I do all the things you have listed on a daily bases, except for the benedryl. I also saw that AnD asked about a sinus infection...Which poped into my head when I read you post. (I get sinus infections a lot!)

My dr has alternated me from zyrtec to claritin and then back again over the last few years. Mainly this is b/c I take the medication that is being offered at my hospital for studies and such. I have been using the zyrtec for a while now, and have found that when I'm having a rough time a vaporizer helps.
When a ENT suggested at my clinic, I was confused! I grew up thinking that you only needed a vaporizer if you were clogged up. She was telling me that it actually aids in drainage...(I have polyps on my sinus's which make it hard for them to drain properly anyway)

I also have a clean air machine on both floors in my house and one for my bedroom...to help remove allergins. (I'm actually looking into getting a UV light put in my duct work, its supposed to help kill germs and bacteria. My primary dr suggested it.)

Hope something helps! Allegies stink and so do sinus infections...I hope you get better soon!

Do you comply with the flonase? My guess is, like about 80% of patients, you only take your flonase (or any intranasal steroid) when symptoms arise.

It takes about 7-10 days for an INS to reach full effect, and this is why you need to use it every day no matter how you're feeling.

Check out my blog on allergies here: <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://blogs.cysticfibrosis.com/categories.cfm?catid=2090&flcache=6060285&entercat=y">http://blogs.cysticfibrosis.co...che=6060285&entercat=y</a>

I also talk about different types of INS medications (I bet your flonase gives you a headache or nosebleeds) here: <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://blogs.cysticfibrosis.com/categories.cfm?catid=1978&flcache=5135253&entercat=y">http://blogs.cysticfibrosis.co...che=5135253&entercat=y</a> (scroll down to intranasal steroids explained)

There are a ton of things you can do to reduce allergies from environmental control (so so so important) to allergy shots. And as you know, allergies can really take their toll on your lungs, so this is important for you to get a hold of.
