Today I have had several asthma attacks, I know it is directly related to how windy it is outside..it started last night when I went outside at work to chase after a patient who decided they were going to walk home.... Duh I should have let her go but I felt bad for her...

Anyway, Everytime I went outside today, I ended up having to do a neb treatment, well now I am inside, and the bark cough, bronchial spasms won't quit.. (hey one way to be certain I do my treatments)

I am on my third "continually neb" and I am at my max cardiac threshold. I am tachying away at 157....and Have been up to 178

I drank icey drinks, which did help settle it down before, but isn't now... I may have to run to work to get some lidocaine to neb.

Has anyone every tried nebbing Lidocaine before? We have given it a few times to some of our patients but it can calm the irritable airway some times...

I don't know what else to try... and since I work in an ER I already know I am pretty much doing for myself everything they would do for me there.. excpet 02..my sats are low for me at 88.... I know very low..

Anyone with some magic tricks?

I have a few magic tricks....

1. Do your meds every day

2. Don't overwork yourself.... stress causes increased inflammation

3. Do your meds every day

4. Get 8 hours of sleep at night

5. Do your meds every day

6. Stop working so hard

That would be my recommendation. Love ya Jen <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Ahhh Amy.. You just reminded me of John in that post.. He would tease me like that... Though I know you are not teasing....

The other day Mel, Jeanne and I had lunch again and we were talking about you, and how much I adore you... I even ordered Chicken Parm from The Olive Garden in your honor..... and Mel and Jeanne are my witness......

I am only having an asthma thing not a CF thing... don't worry.....

Sounds like your body is desperately trying to get your attention somehow. Please, do whatever you can to give your body a chance to rest. I know you care about your patients, but if you can't be at your best for them, then you're only just going to be spinning your wheels in the mud. Your body needs sleep and less stress. Burning the candle at both ends the way you seem to do is only going to make things harder on your body, at it already sounds like you very much need a break.
