A blockage was how I was diagnosed with CF. It happened when I was 8 years old. All of a sudden everything I ate or drank (even a glass of water), I threw up. I don't remember much, but I do remember excruciating pain. I lived out in the country so the doctor kept sending me home saying it was just stomach flu. Finally, after it didn't let up for a few days, my parents drove me to the city hospital and they did an ultrasound, realized there was a blockage, and sent me into emergency surgery. Because the blockage was there for so long, it became infected and spread to my appendix. They thought my appendix would be ok though, so they sewed me back up (actually stapled me back up), only to have to re-operate a few days later because my appendix ended up bursting. Again, not exactly the most painless experience. I'm not even going to go into how they drain the crap from the burst appendix out of your abdominal cavity. Anyways, long story short, go to your doctor and find out for sure if there's a blockage or not. If you leave it, it will just get worse! Trust me! I was in the hospital for over 2 months (and my luck, it happened to be during summer holidays!) and it all could have been avoided if it was detected earlier. Good luck with everything,
Rose - 23/CF
