Hello,
OK, so recently my FEV1 took yet another nose dive (after only 3 months of being off antibiotics!) back to 55% (it had been 63%). My doc said I was wheezing a TON (and even let me hear myself... it was terrible!) so thinks the decline is more due to allergies and/or asthma and has put me on Qvar and Nasacort and added xoepenex and pulmozyme treatments daily as well as singulair nightly. I've only been doing the extra stuff for about 5 days, but haven't noticed any difference... If anything, I feel more tired and shorter of breath. I actually didn't expect my FEV1 to be so low! I'd been feeling great and had lots of energy, but now that they said it was bad, I just feel bad. Urgh.
Anyway, just curiuos if anyone's asthma or allergy symptoms ever really take over and cause "bigger" problems than the CF stuff? And, what do you do for it, does it help, how long do meds take to make a difference, etc.? I've been on advair 500/50 for years and do the usual xoepenex, so I thought I was covering the SOB from asthma, but I guess not.
Its all just kind of overwhelming right now cause how do you know if your lungs are worsening and scarring cause your CF is worsening or if its just symptomology from asthma and/or allergies from the environment?? <img src="i/expressions/coughing.gif" border="0">
Frustrated,
