Just a quick update everyone, the babies weights last week were:
A (cassandra) 2lbs
B (Boy 1) 1lb 14oz
C (Boy 2) 1lb 11 oz
The doctor was a bit concerned by the low weight of the boys, Cassie is at 68% but they are at about 40% and 14% respectively. She was also concerned about my 1lb weight gain in the previous 2 weeks (YIKES). So this past week I did a lot better and gained 3lbs in 7 days, despite record heat in WA.
They didn't do the weights this week, but they will again last week.
I got hooked up to a contraction monitor because the doc wanted to know if I was feeling all my contractions. The good news is, I am feeling all of them, even the small ones. But I must not be able to tell time very well because I had been calculating that they were about 15 mintues apart on average, but the machine showed they were consistent every 5-6 minutes. OH BOY!!!!
She's also a bit concerned (this is the WOMANLY part) because my cervix was about 4.5 cm long last week, and it is 2.9 cm this week. She says it's still over average for how far along I am, but she's very concerned that it changed this much in only one week. So.....
she gave me a medication called Terbutaline that is mainly used for athsma patients but in recent years is also used to stop preterm labor. She warned me it might cause my heart to speed up a little bit (nothing new because I've had a lot of abnormal heart stuff for a few months now) and might cause me to have a hard time falling asleep. I took my first dose at 6pm yesterday.... OH MY GOD.
After about an hour I was thinking, "this isn't bad at all, no rapid heart rate..." Well I thought too soon because my heart rate sped up a while later and then I started getting shakey and couldn't sit still and then on the way home I was literally climbing all over the car. Window down, window up, window down, tugging at my hair, moving my seat back, fourth, reclining, sitting up, open the back window, turn the radio up, turn it down... and then I got really irritable and mean and cranky and well, I think you get the picture.
And then we got home and went to bed at about 10pm. At midnight I was still rolling aroudn in bed, so I tried the guest bed... no luck there. So I moved to the recliner and no luck there. By this time I started pacing aroudn the house and crying (really great for contractions to get all stressed out and not be able to sit still and relax). Then I tried the couch, this was at about 3am. I finally fell asleep for all of 30 minutes, was up for about 30 minutes and then went back to bed on the couch for another 45 minutes or so. Then at about 4:30 I was up, tried to go back to bed on the couch but I had no luck so I gave up and got up.
And now I get to do it all over again with my next dose of medication at 9am. I am going to put a call into my doctor... I don't think I can handle this.
I told my mom (whos a labor and Delivery RN) and she told me that it sounds like I had a bad reaction to it, not everyone reacts that severely but it can and does happen. She did tell me though, that after I take it for awhile I'll get use to it. I asked her in all seriousness, "is that before or after I drive myself mad and end up in the nuthouse and murder my husband" (poor Mark, he's done nothing wrong but this medicaiton makes me feel like a nutcase, climbing the walls and just wanting to scream and wring someone's neck).
So, that's my update everyone.
Hopefully next week's visit will be better and my cervix will not have changed a whole lot.
I don't have any new pictues of the babies because they are so crowded in there and really cant' get any anymore (unless you want to see a spine or a butt ). I will have Mark take a belly picture sometime this coming week and I'll update the site with that, but I don't think there will be any new baby pictures until they get here... ONLY 8 more weeks to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
