If you're going to truly close that door, as my husband and I have done, then I would recommend that he get a vasectomy. A vasectomy is reversible.

Momtana has sent me tons of information about BC! She is an expert <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> Def talk to her!!!

I am opting to go with the paragard IUC. It stays in for 12 years and it is just a little copper thing that prevents pregnancy and doesn't have hormones which was something I prefered.

I was also interested in Mirena which is hormone based but my insurance didn't cover that. It can make your periods much lighter after a few months and it stays in for 5 years.

I liked both those options because they are long term and I don't need to remember to take a pill everyday.

I was advised NOT to take the pill because of absorption issues...that it does not work as effectively in Cfer's because of our digestive issues. I first tried the Patch (Ortho Evra) which was very easy to use and easy at least for me to remmember. The problem I had was the price...my copay was $45, so I wanted something cheaper. I used that for two years-ish. Then I switched (about a year ago) to the the Ring. I looooove it. My period lasts two days! I dont have to worry about it falling out, I have never even come close (whereas the patch sometimes, in summer especially, it would come close to falling off). I dont think the hormone issues are bad with the ring, its a low dose, and its right near the area, if you catch my drift.

Good luck!

Jenny, COC (Combined oral contraceptives, pills with both estrogen and progesterone) decrease stimulation of the ovaries and suppress ovulation, so they can reduce ovarian cysts. Women with CF may want a higher dose COC because of the absorption issues Caitlin talks about. Lots of women with CF use COCs very effectively. Other thoughts?
