CF and Lymphoma

Hey,
I'm new to this board.
My fiance and I have been together for a year now. We are getting married next summer. We've always been very open with each other about CF and our feelings about it.
He was diagnosed with CF at 5 months old.

He's 21 now, and was recently diagnosed with Hodgekin's Lymphoma. It is contained in only one node so it is in stage one. He has never had a port put in or a g tube. The docs say they can administer all the chemo through his PICC. As of now, they don't think radiation will be necessary unless he doesn't respond to the chemo.
His CF docs and the oncologists are working together to make sure things go as smoothly as possible. They haven't had experience treating cancer and CF at the same time.

I was wondering if anyone on here has CF and has gone through chemo, or know someone who has. What were the most common problems? Did CF symptoms get worse? Anything else I should know?

Thanks, Erin.

Lymphoma is fairly common post transplant. I know someone going through that right now (he was diagnosed just after his 10year xplant anniversery).

Also, you could read www.cfhusband.blogspot.com, as i believe tricia had lymphoma last year (and i think is now recovered?)

Erin,

So sorry to hear this. I don't have any experience with it, but my biggest concern with chemo and CF is probably the weight loss associated with it. I would suggest they get him on serious anti-nausea meds and appetite stimulants right away. That's just my non-professional opinion though. All my best to you both while you deal with all this... Hugs.

Also care for his lungs during this time should be very agressive since one must be cancer free for 5 YEARS before they can transplanted. (At least those were the rules I heard 2 years ago on here). You may want to search Karenb posts. She was a member here who lost her husband Troy to cancer. Troy also had cf. Good luck!
