hey, aw you are so kind to think of us.
Good news, the doctor said I didn't test for an active infection-My blood just showed antibodies from at some point in my life being exposed to the toxoplasmosis virus. About 40-50% of people catch it in their life without ever knowing it. Since I grew up on a farm, it is likely that I caught it at some point in my childhood. The chance of me catching it recently is low.
The doctor is doing more tests, I think just to cover all her bases. The genetic counselor at St. Vincents, who by the way ROCKS, she explained everything in detail to us, and basically said-you are fine. The doc is just doing this test to reconfirm that. She pretty much said what the obstetrician should have said in the first place to us-instead of keeping us on pins for 2 weeks. But all's well that ends well.
After I didn't hear from the doc for so long, I just started to reason, well-my mom had 8 kids on a farm. Even up to her 9th month, she'd be up at 5, out milking the cows and shoveling pig poop (we grew up kinda different....) I'm sure she was exposed to TONS of germs and parasites during her pregnancies. If she was fine, I will be too. I didn't know that for sure, but I had to try to be reasonable to maintain a positive attitude for the baby. I feel differently now about prenatal tests though, and what is neccesary. Sometimes if there's nothing they can do anyway even if there is a problem, is it worth all the worry? I dont' know. I'm trying to sort it out.
The other good news is-we got a new laptop! Its not ours really, its from my hubby's office, but they dont' need it so we have it now. I'm really happy about that. I would go insane without a comp!
Thanks again for caring-you have no idea how much it means to me.<img src="i/expressions/heart.gif" border="0"> BIG hugs to you!
