OK.....so over the last few years I have been taking some meds that are new to me for my CF care. I also had sinus surgery about 2 years ago. Anyway, I was lamenting the fact that I have lost a lot of my focus......seems to be more difficult to stay on task....not forget things.....complete a project....you know that kind of thing. I have also been getting late morning and mid afternoon headaches that I attributed to sinus problems and who knows what else. My ENT actually did a sinus scan to check out what was going on and thought another surgery may be in the works soon, ughh! Well, for totally unrelated reasons I gave up decaf coffee for the last 2 weeks and I have had NO NOT ONE headache and my focus is almost crystal clear compared to my usual. I am attributing that completely to stopping drinking coffee even though my reasons for stopping it were totally unrelated to how I was feeling and I didn't think in a million years that would have been the cause. Am I crazy or am I on to something.

If i am correct Caffeine is one of the triggers for headaches. I used to get terrible migraines years ago (still do, but way less often) When i started going to the Chiropractor for treatment for the headaches, i remember coffee, chocolate, tea, etc. anything with caffeine in it being on the list of things to avoid.
So yes, you are on to something. You may have solved one of your own problems by "accident".

I know caffeine withdrawal causes headaches; but, I would think drinking decaf would not really cause a problem.....boy was I wrong. I am just excited that it really probably isn't dang polyps rearing their ugly little grape size heads.

I have found that coffee is very acidifying and causes me all kinds of problems if I drink it, even in very small quantities. Keeping excess acidity under control by eating carefully is a big focus of mine. Coffee screws up my gut, lungs and sinuses so bad that I now drink plain hot water if I am cold at work and want something warm to drink. If I get acid enough, it can cause me sinus headaches. I think it is from the inflammation.
