I saw your post a while ago and was going to respond after I thought about what to write. I think there are many good ideas and it seems like you have things under good control! Nice job with all that by the way!
I am 24 years old and have been out of college for two years. I went to school an hour away from home, not too bad. One thing I made sure to do was to tell the health center on campus. In MA there is a company that does chest pt services, so I was having someone come to my house 3 times a week and because I was still in MA, I was able to continue that with a different therapist of course. But I was uncomfortable doing that in my room...kinda wierd getting beaten with a room mate I was unsure of watching...lol. I was able to use the health center, they had an extra room, and I went in through the back door every time, so I didnt have to walk by all the sick people in the waiting room.
As far as telling the college disabilities department, I had never even thought of that. I am a relatively mild CFer, so it didnt cross my mind that I could use that to my advantage. I was fine without telling them, but looking back, I probably should have. I had a few professors who didnt like my coughing in thier office or class...yea its bullshit...and one who asked if she should grade me easier...UMMMMM NO I am just like everyone else, why would you do that. I think that if I had the backing of the disabilities department, they would have helped me deal with that better. They might be able to help your son work with the professor and give him things to say in those situations. Despite of all that, I had a very good college experience, was very independent and most importantly, was able to stay healthy for the most part. I was only hospitalized once during my actual school year (other times being the summer).
