Recently DS had an appointment with the local CF doctor and we were waiting for the culture results and I guess even though they're an accreditted CF center, I've always been concerned with the way they handle them.
Anyway, the RT who'd been there FOREVER, has moved on to the local DME, so there was a new person who came in to do a throat culture. The last few times we'd tried doing a sputum culture, but DS hasn't learned to spit. Anyhoo...
DH was thrilled to get a letter from the doctor indicating DS wasn't culturing anything except normal flora; however, being a pessimist and always waiting for the other shoe to drop, I looked at the dates and I don't believe the culture sat long enough. The letter from the doctor was dated a week after the throat culture was taken, but I the lab report is dates 4-5 days after.
I'm planning to ask our regular CF doctor in the City about it tomorrow. I hate to be all gloom and doom, but I suspect that the things he's grown in the past are probably still lurking around. Sigh!
