Daughter is just starting Pulmozyme

I finally got my doctor to prescribe pulmozyme for my 3 year old and I am just curious what order you all do your meds in.

Currently she does Xopenex while doing her vest and I know she should still do that first, but do any of you do the Pulmozyme while doing your vest or should I wait and do it after the vest? Also she is going to do it one time per day, do you do it morning or evening, does it really matter? Our clinic told us to do it when we have the most time to fit it in.

ALso how long does a Pulmozyme treatment usually take, just curious? We have a Pari Pro Neb Ultra II compressor. ALso do I need to keep the Pari neb used for Pulmozyme separate from the other nebs? We wash and then boil our Pari nebs and masks for a full 10 minutes after every use, so is it okay if they are interchanged or should we have one specific Pari Neb just for Pulmozyme?

Thanks in advance for your replies!!

Ok, I don't know what Xopenex is, is it like albuterol? We don't have a vest, but this is how we were told to do it for our 2 year old:
bronchiodialtors (albuterol, etc.) to open the airways up
pulmozyme to break up the mucus
wait a few minutes if possible to let it start working
then chest pt

Our doctor also said it doesn't matter if it's morning or night. I like to do it in the morning, so it can work while he's running around and active, instead of right before bed when he'll just be sleeping. Although if I'm running short on time, I'll skip it and do it at night.

I also use a Pari LC plus, for us it takes less then 10 minutes (maybe 7 minutes?)
As for using a neb just for pulmozyme, I don't do it because I also boil each neb for 10 min. after every use. I don't see the point in having a separate one, they are cleaned, soaked, and boiled after every use.

Don't do Pulmozyme while doing the Vest. Do it before or after

No studies have been done regarding that. Is her FEV1 above 70% ? If so, studies show twice a day dose has been shown to be more affective (refer to prescribing information for pulmozyme)

6 minutes. with the eFlow, about 3 minutes.

In terms of whether to do pulmozyme before or after the Vest, check out the study I posted on my blog:

I've always been told to do any bronchodialators first, then pulmozyme, then the vest, then any inhaled antibiotics (like Tobi, etc). I find that it works best right before the vest so it can thin out all the crap that will be coughed up. I've also always been told to do it at night unless it's not possible because of schedule reasons or something like that. I guess you just benefit from it more when you're sleeping with it and breathing relatively calmly rather than being super active and coughing all through out the day. Pulmozyme only takes about 5 minutes or so to do...it's a quickie. Also, pumozyme should have it's own nebulizer all to itself because it can't be mixed with any other solutions.

My experience is that pulmozyme take some time until they break up the mucus. When I inhaled pulmozyme it lasts about 4-5 hours until the mucus is more fluid.
I was told that its better to inhale it in the morning or during the day, because if you do it in the evening you might not sleep very well because the mucus is coming up in the night.

I have the same comment dont do pulmozyme at night because then by time it reaches peak effectiveness you will be asleep.

I do zopenex with my vest and I also do pulmozyme with vest with workout afterward but I am not as concerned since I take 2 vials a day and it is a risk I am willing to take with myself because I feel I still get jsut as good benefits and I have experimented but I dont know as I woudl risk it with my child.
