Do you reject stitches?

I find this oddly amusing so I figured I would put it out there...

when I first had my arm port I had what looked like stitches migrating out, it wasnt until my CF nurse grabbed hold of one with a pair of tweezers we realised it was infact a stitch....I thought maybe this was just some freakish thing that happened...(i know the name says it all LOL)

When I had my hysterectomy I was cleaning my wounds like a wounded dog and noticed some odd bits of scab like blood, again I decided to grab hold of it with a pair of tweezers and pull, Yup you guess it, it was again internal stitches migrating out....

Now I am post op again (2 weeks) and once again my internal stitches are migrating out (little suckers just wont stay in there)

I have many piercings, and never rejected any of them, but I wonder what it is about these stitches that makes my body reject them....

I have asked the drs and nurses yadda yadda, but no one has ever seen nor heard of anyone before having the internal stitches migrate out..

oh and you'd be proud to know I havent yanked these last lot of migratory stitches LOL!!

Just curious though is this something unique to me? or has anyone else had migratory stitches? (internal ones)

I actually don't know if it is CF related but I have had that happen to me before.. I always attributed it to them using the wrong type of stiches but now you got me thinking...

i do, badly. pulling out half dissoled stitches is fun though i must admit. there are various stitches available that are less likely to migrate. usually the faster dissolving and thinner ones are better.

ooohhh you've just brought back memories and made my skin crawl
hehe!  I've had so called disolvable stiches rise to the
surface.  I had a black bit on my arm after my port was put
in and thought it was a scab.  Eventually showed it to
the doc as i thought it was a long time for a scab to heal.
He got some tweezers and yes you gussed it, it was a stitch!
Eeewww!!!

in a sort of unrealated story, my cat had surgery to stictch up his paw about 6 weeks ago. when i took him to his 10 - day follow up appt, the vet pulled some of the stictches out but left 3 that seemed stuck or something and she said he would get them out on his own. well, they are still there. and they show no sign of moving. they are supposed to be dissolvable stitches. so why haven't they dissolved where they attach to the skin and fallen off?

anyway, i mean no disrespect to the thread by adding comments about my cat. just figured someone might know...

if you can get your cat to stay still, just get a pair of tweezers and gently pull them out. they should slide out easily. if not, demand that the vet takes them out. they could be making the area quite itchy for your puddy <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0">
