I don't care what they say... I boil my e-flow parts except the metal disk.

You gotta make it work for you

Hi everyone,

Why can't you just boil the aerosole head along with the plastic nebuliser cup???

I've had the E-flow for 18 months now and have always rinsed the aerosole head under running tap water (together w plastic neb cup in sopay water) and then place the nebuliser parts with the aerosole head in boiling distilled water after each use (for about 5 mins). I've never had a problem with plastic warping etc. I also use all my meds in it - hypertonic saline (6%) and all - no problems with that either.

yes, the E-flow cleaning issue / clogging of the aerosole head can be frustrating. I alternate between the E Flow and regular PARI for the reason that ladybug mentioned - it is easier to just boil the regular PARI cups at your own leisure but when pressed for time - the E Flow wins.

<div class="FTQUOTE"><begin quote>She said it cannot be boiled nor can you put the parts in the dishwasher and to run distilled water over it and use distilled soapy water to clean and then rinse with sterile water. Once a week to soak in 70% isopropyl alcohol. </end quote></div>

During the Aztreonam study, the protocol was to boil all of the plastic parts for ten minutes, while the aerosol head was put in isoprpyl alcohol for the same amount of time. I followed what they told me to do and never hasd any problems, but during the study I was getting a whole new plastic set and metal head every other month (when I was on the drug). Now, I am not considered to be "in the study" anymore, its just an extension until the drug is approved, I dont get new pieces every month, and I still have NOT had any problems. As far as cleaning it every day, like LIGHTNLIFE said, that is supposed to be acceptable.

So now I have the eflow, and since I am not considered in the study, I guess I could do other meds with it, but like other people, I dont feel comfortable. I have also heard very conflicting reports of what drugs are safe and its not worth the risk to me.
