First Time for seeing a ENT

Hello,

I go in tomorrow afternoon to see an ENT. I have been fighting with some serious sinus problems and then add allergies and well I know a lot of you all ready understand what I am talking about.

What is the first visit like to ENT? I just want to get some feed back so I feel a little more relaxed tomorrow.

Thanks in advance for any feed back.

Piece of cake. Don't worry yourself over it. I've been to several over the years and have had 3 sinus surgeries. Many here have had more than that.

Usually if and when they look inside your sinuses it isn't something that hurts. Will probably order at CT scan to see the extent of the problem. They may talk to you about irrigating, which I highly recommend if you don't do it. It makes all the difference!

I've been a couple of times & as Debbi said, they may look up/down your sinus' and throat, but it didn't hurt IMO, it was just uncomfortable.
Good luck--I hope you get some answers!

Depending on the ENT depends on how they will numb you a bit to make the insertion of the scope less uncomfortable. I went to one that did a spray of lidocaine (the way I prefer most) up each nostril & the other stuck these tampon looking things up my nostrils soaked in Lidocaine.

Relax & breathing is the key. It will be uncomfortable & the more inflammed your passages are the more uncomfortable it will be. I will also say that your throat will probably hurt after the numbess wears off. Almost like it got scratched, but a bit of Tylenol & a few days should take care of that.

Breathing slowly & steadily will help avoid any gag reflex also.

Its like going to the the GYN.....not AWFUL, but not something you enjoy either <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif" border="0">
