Sophia is five and she had a bronch last week. Her doctor is now recommending a fundo when she gets her g-tube placed on Dec. 1. I was fine with that since I don't want her refluxing while she sleeps. But after reading about what goes wrong after the fundo I am thinking it is definitely not the route to go. Anyone had a fundo and want to share if theres was successful or not.
Sharon, mom of Sophia, 5 and Jack, 3 both with cf

Hi Sharon,

I'm sorry i can't answer you question, as i don't even know what a Fundo is. But i just wanted to wish you and your daughter some good luck and i hope that things turn out ok, for you both.

You are in my prayer's, and i'm sure you will end up making the right decision.
There are many great people on this site, with lot's of helpful info.

So i am sure there will be someome with sound advice and information.

Best of luck.

Hi Sharon, my son who will be 5 months next week is having the Nissan Fundo this coming Tuesday (Nov.21st) As you, I have read a lot of negaitive things about the Nissan and am very concerend. I have talked to the surgeon, who has covered ALL of my concerns but I'm still very afraid.

Briceton is having the Fundo becuase he is aspirating into his lungs, and of course with him having CF is pretty serious. He has already been hospitilized for pneumonia and a collaption due to the aspirating and many secondary infictions. We pretty much have no choice but to have the surgery or highly risk a lot of damage to his lungs from the aspiration. CF is bad enough, he doesn't need anything else to aide in damaging his precious lungs.

Briceton will not be having a G-tube placed but will be having a nasal feeding tube in for 1-2 months after surgery due to the swelling it causes.

If you like, fell free to email me and I will gladly update you on his surgery and his progress afterwards. Just praying the surgery does more good then bad.

wish you well on your decision,

Sherry

Edited to try and figure out why it will not let me have a space between my paragraphs...........can't figure it out, who knows!<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Oooohhh I pray everything goes perfectly, this has been eating me up! Trying to be strong!

has anyone talked about a partial fundo? or do they not think it will be effective enough?</end quote></div>

kybert-

I am assuming your question was directed at me?
No, only the complete 360 Fundo was mentioned. Not really sure if the partial would be effective or not. We have tried and are on several meds to help with the reflux-which is when he is aspirating into the lungs- but is only helping mildly and still aspirating. We were told by the GI and CF docs that surgery was our best option.
