Has anyone had this particular blood test done?

Has anyone had a Sedirate ( sedimentation rate) blood test done? It is to measure inflammation in the body. My DR. recently did one because i want to get to the root of why i have so many unexplained low grade fevers. My nurse called to tell my numbers were a bit elevated. A normal person with no disease would have #'s in the teens to 20. Mine was 100. My nurse went on to tell me i could have elevated numbers because of the fungus ball, the cepacia or it may just be normal for me to have elevated #'s just with having cf. They have never done this type of blood test before on me so we have nothing to compare it to. He said it may be possible somethihng else is going on and maybe i should see a Reumatologist. I was like WHAT?????? Do you think i have Reumatoid Arthritis? He asked if i have joint and muscle aches and i said yes but mainly only when on Cipro which i hear is common. Of coarse now i am scared. I will see them on Wed. and he said we will talk about it then if i should go to a Reumatologist.
Has anyone had this blood test done before? Do you remember what # you had? I am hoping someone had it done and had less than perfect #'s with it and had no other odd problems connected to it other than cf.

For the record, the above question is from Diane. For whatever reason, she keeps getting error messages when she tries to post this question.

I had that test done (not sure what my numbers were though, sorry) and it prompted a visit from a rheumatologist. I also get a lot of low grade fevers--99.5 and I start feeling yucky--especially at night. The fevers tend to coincide with joint pain.

As to the cipro stuff, it could be related. I get to a point with the Levaquin (in the same family as cipro) where I begin to experience the drug fever accompanied by the join pain.

My rheumatologist confirmed that what I have is CF-Associated Arthritis. When my body gets inflamed, either from asthma or an exacerbation, I get horrible joint pain.

Don't be scared about it. It's something that can be dealt with rather easily with NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) or even some other sort of pain medication. I'm on something called tramadol, which is the non-addictive version of vicodin. Also, I've found that being very diligent with taking my Advair and singulair that I hardly have as many issues.

I hope that info helps!

My son Dan just had one done, and his level came back high. He is also seeing an rheumatologist they thing he has HPOA. They are putting him on NSAID or Aleve, to combat the swelling. He has a follow up in a month, we will find out more then. The just diagnoised this while he was in the hospital.
