husband coughing up blood 3rd day??????????

1 cup would be way too much if the one cup was all at one time. When i mentioned one cup i meant one cup in the span of the 3 days. If i cough up more than 3 table spoons at a time i call the Dr. and usually go into the hospital. Usually the rule of thumb is 100 ml. in 24 hours is a need to go in the hospital.

Wow....that's crazy. My doctor (and many other people whom I have talked to) has always told me that if it's more than 1/4 then I need to be seen immediately. I about flipped in January 2007 when I coughed up 3-4 cups. The doctor sent nurses into my room so they could see what a LOT of blood really was.

And as if its not bad enough to be coughing up that quantity, the doctor makes you a spectacle too. I hope they comforted you before they they used your episode as a "teachable moment".
