Wow...I didn't realize so many people were getting it in vials! I get my 7% HS in an I.V. bag and I just draw out 5cc's when I do my nebs. No refridgerator, no wasted med, no mixing. I get mine from a pharmacy in FL, and I never have to wait for it.</end quote>

Wow! Do you mind telling me what company your pharmacy orders that from? I would love to see if my local pharmacy could get it too (I'm in Alabama). I am planning on checking to see if my local pharmacy can get the 10% for me too for now, since the .9% is supposedly on its way...</end quote>

I don't know what company the pharmacy orders it from, but the name of the pharmacy itself is Signature Compound Pharmacy in Orlando, FL. If you'd like the number, just PM me

not sterile.

How do you mean? Don't you make up your own colomycin at home? Home IVS? We used to always do our IVs at home, completely sterile and everything..

Maybe I've misunderstood you?

(Don't know if the quoting thing worked, but I was trying to quote sasuka!)

Umm, I think the misunderstanding here is probably that I am looking for 10% HS to mix with .9% or 3% to make 7%, so in that sense, I am making my own 7% HS. You can make saline at home with water and noniodine salt (like for sinus rinsing), but it isn't sterile, like the HS you get in the vials from the pharmacy. Was that it?

Look for the references to foundation care. I've been told they are excellent to deal with. I am waiting for my first order to come, next week. They called to say they have the order, will submit it to insurance, and will mail the months supply next week.

BTW - I had to insist that my CF clinic fax them the order. The Clinic had not dealt with this company before and were insistant that I use CFF's pharmacy. I had to convince them to at least try it for me. Now they have another resouce they can use. Imagine that...

I emailed them, and I haven't heard back from them yet. How did you contact them?

In the meantime, I found a pharmacy about 20-30 min. away (I'm almost out so I needed something local for this order at least ) that has the 10% vials in stock (Yea! ) and can order the .9% and get it in tomorrow or Sat. they will call me when it's ready. And it was $48 for the 10% (before insurance, which will hopefully leave me with a $25 or a little less copay) and $20 for the .9%. I also found a local pharmacy that can get the .9% for $15, but the 10% was $80! (found that price at 2 pharmacies) I still had him order the .9% since I have to pay for it out of pocket anyways and I'm going to use the leftover 10%, so I'll need the extra.

Foundation Cares phone number is: 1-877-291-1122

We used to order the 7% from them and had no problems. Now we are mixing our own because it is a little less expensive that way.

Also about the 10% saline from the pharmacies. I know that it comes in 2 different count boxes, that might account for the price difference...one had 50 vials, and the other has 100 vials. So maybe check on the size of box they will be ordering.
