Hey, everyone.
So, with our move a couple months ago, my FEV1 dropped about 5%. I also had my first true hemoptysis. My new docs think its all related to the dust and inflammation kicked up by unpacking, stress, etc.
Yesterday, I saw the lowest FEV1 ever. It had lowered another 3% and it was HARD to do the pft. I felt like I'd pass out when doing it. Urgh.
I have noticed lately (like over the past week or two) that I've been really "burpy" even with my 4 times a day rx acid blockers.
I have noticed also since moving here, I cannot cough anything up and when I do, its often fairly watery and not thick and yucky. I don't even cough stuff out when I laugh! (this is very odd for me). I mentioned all this to the doc yesterday and she was very adamant that it doesn't sound like an exacerbation, but instead some serious GI issues causing inflammation and reflux, thereby causing much lower pfts.
Has anyone else been told this? Or, has anyone else had major dips in their FEV1 based on reflux alone? I honestly felt super burpy when I was doing the pft, so wouldn't doubt it had SOME effect, but lowering it 8% since getting here two months ago is a huge disappointment to me.
I don't feel terrible. I feel tired and a little sob and can't jog nearly as far as I used to, but all in all, I was shocked beyond belief when I saw my numbers yesterday. I don't think I'm having fevers, but have been taking tylenol for a bum back, so can't be positive.
Anyway, just curious if anyone thinks this is odd to NOT treat with abx with such a huge slide in FEV1 and instead start looking at other things like reflux as a possible culprit? I don't want to loose lung function or scar my lungs cause I don't do IV abx, but also want to get to the bottom of the TRUE cause if it really is reflux.
Urgghhh.... I'm just soooo stressed and depressed about this all.
Thanks, guys....
