Lying down while doing nebs

As long as the neb cup is held upright, so it doesn't sputter, shouldn't be an issue. Max sleeps thru his morning treatment. The other two he's pretty good, though sometimes leans back on his pillows to lounge and watched cartoons.

Lying down puts additional pressure on the lungs. This is because a person's own weight is pressing down on them. This makes it more difficult to breathe deeply and with the proper technique needed for inhaling neb meds. If she is more comfortable lying down, consider having her wear a mask, that way she's more likely to get all the benefit of the medication.

As Liza mentioned, lying back against the pillows is another resting position during nebs. That is better than lying down.

At this point, don't force the issue. As she gets older and can understand more, help her learn the importance of the meds and how important it is to inhale them properly in the right position.

Thank you for you input. I didn't want to turn it into a power struggle to get her to sit up for every neb. She tolerates so much without it being a struggle. I'll just keep doing what we're doing and explain to her why she needs to sit up(she is able to understand about keeping her lungs healthy). Perhaps, I'll do some positive reinforcement stuff, like if she sits up for all her nebs she gets a special toy/doll to pick out. Just thought of that from reading your posts. Thanks again!

i typically lie down when i do meds, i just make sure the cup stays somewhat vertical, heck i've even done meds while i'm in the shower because when i have a sinus infection the steam from a long hot shower helps a lot and to save time i just do meds while i'm there, as well as shave, brush my teeth and things like that but i guess thats getting to tmi.
