Lying down while doing nebs

i typically lie down when i do meds, i just make sure the cup stays somewhat vertical, heck i've even done meds while i'm in the shower because when i have a sinus infection the steam from a long hot shower helps a lot and to save time i just do meds while i'm there, as well as shave, brush my teeth and things like that but i guess thats getting to tmi.

The goal is to get as much medicine in the lungs as possible.

None of us could run laying down... why? because the lungs can't expand as efficiently lying down (among other things but you get my point).

I agree with not creating a power sturggle.... but preventative care is so vital at her young age I would really encourage sitting up so she can take as deep of breaths as possible.

Maybe you could make a fun game for her (not even mentioning the laying down part) that woudl help her to want to breath big and she would realize onher own that she can 'win' the game and breath big sitting up.

I am not around alot of 3.5 year olds so perhaps my idea is way off intellectually but the idea that comes to mind is putting a sticker or something on her belly and then trying to get her to push out when she takes a breath. Learning to expand your diaphram properly is a challenge for many adults with breathing issues and 'stomcah breathing' is deeper and better when doing breathing treatments according to my clinic so couldn't hurt to practice now anyway right? She could try 'giving the sticker a ride' up really high when she is laying down and then you could have her try different ways of getting the sticker to go higher, one position you could recommend woudl be 'lets see how high it goes when you sit up like a big girl' then regardless of if it is truly better or not cheer and say how great it was when she sat up, how that gave the sticker the 'best ride' maybe award her a small prize for that position. I dont really know if it will work but it's jus tosmething that came to mind.

encouraging her to sit up is very good, as long as it's not a struggle, i agree.
Don't know if a toy would be a good idea as it won't be long or your home will be full of toys hehe. Or maybe you mean something she already has hehe.

I used to get stickers after physio and doing nebs. I had a little book that i could pick out myself and could pick out a sticker after every treatment. I still have the little books with all the pages full of stickers. It is so much fun to see them now.
