We did TOBI without albuterol. The albuterol wasn't added until we started Hypertonic Saline. It is hard with kids this age because they might not have the right words to describe that their airways are tightening.

We had the same advice as Dana said.

TOBI without albuterol.

Albuterol only before HS.

My kids only used albuterol a few times in the hospital when they were really junky.

Terri, if you're worried about how long Kaylee's treatments will take, I'd ask the doc to prescribe an albuterol (or xoponex) inhaler and have Kaylee do a couple quick puffs on that prior to the Tobi. What most people have said here is correct, in my opinion: albuterol (or xoponex) helps open the airways so the antibiotic (or whatever else Kaylee's using) can get into the airways better. An inhaler, as opposed to a nebulized treatment, is a quick way to open the airways prior to Tobi inhalation.

I was told we can mix the albuterol and hypertonic saline, do them first...then do the Pulmozyme....wait 15 minutes before ding the Vest or Flutter.
