Bottom line, just like all cfers don't have the same symptoms or degree of illness, all cfers will respond differently to new carpet, removal of carpet or just living with carpet. If allergies are a problem and tend to irritate your cf then I would consider not being around for the transition from old to new. If allerges don't seem to be a problem then be happy about new carpet. Research has shown that wood floors (or other alternatives to carpet) can be better for certain people with certain health conditions. It's a personal choice and your a person so you can choose what seems good for you. When the issue of to carpet or not to carpet came up last year right after my daughter's cf diagnosis we asked our cf doc what his opinion was and he replied " I don't see any problems for her, but some of my patients I would not recommend carpet for at their stage of disease" Hope this helps and I hope the carpet turns out great!!!
