I just went to see an orthopedic surgeon today.... I have hip dysplasia. We finally have a diagnosis after years of pain.
Luckily, it seems to very treatable. I am just finishing up a prednisone burst and found out from the surgeon that long term prednisone is not safe on the joints. I get to keep that in mind as we treat my mycobacteria and aspergillis. (spell??) in the future. He said so far he sees no ill effects of the prednisone I have taken in the past. Bye... Bye prednisone! (Evil grin).
Looking at possibly needing surgery on my hip.... possibly some resurfacing. Doing a dye contrast ultrasound in a couple of weeks. If we do surgery the physical therapy should not only kick my hip back into overdrive but my lungs too. Talk about a body makeover. If surgery is not needed I am hoping they put me on a "hip safe" exercise program.
No more excuses for not exercising anymore-- dr. gave me lovely new pain pills.
