I don't have any advice to offer on the marching band and instrument issue really. I just wanted to say that is awesome exercise like Lauren mentioned.

I DID want to add this though - I think the stuff Lauren is talking about is called Coban or something - if IF you buy that to use do NOT I repeat do NOT get one with a color. Try to find something that is white or close to your instrument color - I know you won't find brass or anything but maybe a tan color. I say that because I used to use that stuff to secure my picc line extensions when I had PICCs and there were times when the different colors would stain my skin. Red and Teal were the worst. I would just hate to see you have a bigger problem by using that stuff - so stay away from the colors and try to stay neutral.

Take Care and either way I hope you find something that works.

I played clarinet all through high school and my keys got so corroded, the poor clarinet looked disgusting. I cleaned it EVERY time I played it, but to no avail. When our marching band would compete, our director would have to go get an exemption or something from the judges to excuse the disgustingness of my ugly clarinet. My uncle will NOT let me touch any of his guitars for fear that I will mess up the strings with my toxic sweat.

Sorry no suggestions here, just thought I'd share in your frustration. Good luck!!

I'm so sorry for laughing at this, but I found the first two posts really funny.
Its Just me I guess, my mind is almost always in the gutter. All that talk of getting a good shine on my horn....and 'cupping my hand on the bell' had me in stitches.
I do apologise.<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">

I played flute and had the exact same problem. What's even scarier was that I also played percussion and the cymbals on my drum kit corroded without me even touching them!
