So yea...I started taking the clotrimazole (sp?) for thrush in my mouth a few weeks ago...like 3. It was four times a day and for the life of me, I could NOT remember to take it or when I did, it was too close to my next dose. Thus, I have sstill not used up the prescription, which was only supposed to last two weeks. I do have a call in to my doc for another reaon, but thought I would post this question anyway...

Is thrush like the bacteria in my lungs, where it will become resistant to the meds? And if I start back up today, and then refill the prescription(he gave me one refill) when it runs out will that cure my thrush (if I am reliable in taking the meds)? I havent really had any problems with it, just that my voice gets really horse and I get the white splotches on my tongue. Can thrush ever go away on its own?

are you taking a probiotic? many of us avoid having thrush at all by keeping our "good bacteria" in balance. thrush is an over growth of yeast usually due to antibiotic use killing the good bacteria that usually keeps the yeast in balance. I hope this helps. When you take drugs to treat your thrush you are treating the symptom but not the true problem. Another problem (much more serious) that can result of not keeping your "good bacteria" in check is c-diff.

Thrush is a fungus (yeast), not a bacteria so I don't think it can become resistant to the drug.

I'm not sure why you are getting thrush - but thought I'd throw this out there - if it's because you are on Advair .... my son switched from Advair to Symbicort because of thrush - he has not had a problem with thrush in several months (since switching)
