Well you just explained my life.....

Its one of the reasons that I end up "sick" & in the hospital is because those individual days end up being a bunch of days before I know it.

I could be completely fine in the morning & feeling sickly at night OR vice versa.....so when asked how I am feeling? It literally depends on the day & time....

Wow, it is like a revelation to know others go through the same thing. I just thought I was over analyzing my health. Thank you for your comments.

Hi Erin,

I used to think that my health varying from day to day was totally random, back in the days when I was sick all the time with exacerbations every couple of months. My doctor who has helped me tremendously has shown me that all my symptoms were directly related to my environment. In other words, as I was exposed to certain triggers, the inflammation in my body would rise -- causing all the same symptoms you speak of. And because I didn't do anything about them, they would turn into infections (pseudomonas, mrsa, etc.)

My doctor calls it detective work. Over the years, I have identified what triggers me and I can predict when I am going to get increased mucus, the achey feeling, and worst of all coughing up blood.

I am by no means perfect, but if you can learn to control inflammation you start having more and more good days, less exacerbations, lung function may not only slow its decline -- it may even go up (this is dealing with the asthma component of CF). I used to have a chronic cough which is now gone.

So your observations can be instrumental in helping you possibly improve your own health.

You just described how I've felt since Christmas day. I was 'definately' sick and then just a rattle and wheeze, and then I was fine, then I was productive...but then, oh no, I was good again.

Went and got two oral abx anyway but can't tell if they're working as I can't tell if I'm genuinely all that ill to begin with! Confusing...
