Oxygen use

Thank you for your reply's. Cory is currently prescribed Oxygen at night but uses whenever he is sleeping at all and during rough times (after activity, heavy coughing spells). We have the liquid oxygen at home. My concern was that my youngest son is going to be graduating from moot camp in November. We will need to be in San Diego for several days. We have the "stroller" tanks but I can't imagine dragging alone several of them to the Marine base. Or even when he goes to his grandma's for a night. The supplier did tell me that if we were traveling they would set the oxygen up wherever we were but they needed 2 weeks notice. Often it can be a last minute trip to Grandma's (Cory is really close to his grandma's) and the tanks only last 4 hours

I still have it in my home but don't need to use it right now. I used the Concentrator at night and in the house, and a portable when I went out.

My dr. specifically requested the portable that would sling over my shoulder. I also kept a spare in my car and if I thought I'd be gone very long I'd put 2 spares in!!! Could Cory be given that type of portable instead of the stroller tank? It would still be nice to have the concentrator for at his grandmothers or overnight anywhere else.

Is there an update on him somewhere? I was wondering how he was doing but couldn't find anything recent, but maybe it's in Family???

My husband started out on oxygen just at night. We had this god awful loud machine that generated a ton of heat so we had to keep it in the bathroom with the door closed and a towel under it because the vibration was so loud. When his lung function got worse they put him on 2 liters all the time. At first the insurance company refused to give him the small portable oxygen tanks so all he had was those big knee high ones. He wouldn't go outside because he didn't like lugging it around. We finally talked them in to giving him the smaller tanks with an on demand regulator. When we went on long car trips I just put one of the bigger tanks in the back seat and had him use that so we didn't use up the smaller tanks. I got so used to hearing his oxygen machine at night that when he was hospitalized I would turn it on even though he wasn't home.
