Hey Baby Bird Marcy.
Sorry I missed your call the other day.. Life is going full speed ahead.. and I have been very busy..... I will call you back...
I know you have had a PICC line before... No big deal really... Doing IVS at home is the best ever, as opposed to doing them in the slammer....
They give you everything you need, your CF nurse or doctor will call the home infusion center, order what they want, then a home nurse will call you to come out to set up and go over your stuff with you.... Usally a delivery guy comes with all the stuff, IV poles etc first then the nurse comes..
They plan for all your flushes and heparin that you need, they give you everything... I would ask them for a few extra dressing kits just in case you need to change it... Normally they come out once a week and change the dressing, The nurse will give you his/her number and if you need anything you call them or the infusion center or your CF team......
Always count ahead, a few times I have been short on flushes but I knew way in advance I was going to... so they sent it out to me..
Usually they have you do the SASH method when flushing which is saline, antibiotic, saline then heparin but check with your team...
STop worrying chicken butt you will be just fine... Hope the kiddos are doing well and that the hubby is behaving himself..
Love,
Jennifer
